TL;DR

  • Xiaomi ends its 7-day free cloud storage service for home security cameras.
  • This feature will stop working on March 31, 2023.

“Due to changes in our business development, we will be discontinuing our home surveillance recording service on March 31, 2023,” the company wrote in a notice.

Therefore, if you are using Mi Home Security 360 degree camera or Mi Home Security Basic camera in 1080p, you will not be able to save surveillance footage to the cloud after the deadline. Xiaomi touted his free 7-day rolling cloud storage as one of his security camera selling points, so it would be a shame to see this feature go away. It’s unclear if new Xiaomi security cameras like the Mi 360 2K Pro will also stop supporting cloud storage features.

In any case, the affected Xiaomi cameras can still display real-time surveillance footage and send alerts and event notifications.

If you still want to access old surveillance footage or save it for posterity, you’ll need to do it locally on your SD card.

Xiaomi will stop recording surveillance footage after March 31st, but users will be able to download and save videos recorded in the last seven days (from March 25th to March 31st). .

Xiaomi didn’t give a specific reason for ending cloud storage for security cameras. However, this is not the first company. Recently, Arlo announced that it will be discontinuing its traditional video recording service on January 1, 2024.
