Asus announced the Chromebox 5 at CES 2023. This is the successor to his Chromebox 4 from the same brand that was released last year. The Chromebox 4 is powered by the 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake processor and the Chromebox 5 has been upgraded to the 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake chipset.
Aside from the processor, the Chromebox 5 is noteworthy as it features a unique, compact design with rounded edges and minimal Asus and Google branding. What’s more, this mini PC’s top plate acts as a wireless charging pad for other devices such as phones, watches, and gaming devices. The pad charges at a rate of 15 watts. This is a safe limit for most mobile devices.
Chromebox 5 runs ChromeOS, Google’s operating system most commonly used in Chromebooks and OEM laptops. It’s an efficient OS that seamlessly supports Google services, many Android services, and streaming services.
