The Meta-owned app supports the latest system software on Android, iOS, or the web, and also rolls out updates to adapt to it. That’s why WhatsApp stops supporting older operating versions every year and focuses on new updates. Again this year, all platforms are set to end support for some older smartphones running on older operating systems, including Android and iPhone models, after December 31st.
“In order to keep up with the latest advances in technology, we regularly stop supporting older operating systems and redirect resources towards supporting modern operating systems. Stop supporting your operating system. You will then be reminded several times to upgrade your device.To keep using WhatsApp,” the blog quotes WhatsApp.
According to a GizChina report, instant messaging apps will end support for about 49 smartphones across brands. The list includes smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Huawei, LG, etc.
