WhatsApp will soon stop working on millions of phones.
If you have an older iPhone or Android model, after December 31st, you won’t be able to use the popular messaging app unless you upgrade.
WhatsApp will stop working on phones from 49 manufacturers, including the iPhone 5 and 5c, and some Android models from Samsung, Huawei and LG.
A warning message will notify the user before the app stops working.
A WhatsApp statement explaining the move said:
Also, these devices may not have the latest security updates or lack the features required to run WhatsApp.
“In order to select which ones to stop supporting, each year we, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and least people still using them.
