WhatsApp may soon allow Android users to move chat history without using Google Drive Backup


Back in July 2022, WhatsApp has been updated to support easy transfers between Android and iOS. This was completely impossible before. However, more options are always welcome, and judging by recent reports, WABetaInfo, they’re already in the oven.

WhatsApp’s latest beta adds new options to your chat settings. This allows a user to move chat history from one Android phone to hers another. No need for Google Drive to be involved. This is useful if you want to quickly transfer active chats to your new smartphone. Don’t worry if your cloud backup is up to date.

Naturally, the option to back up your chats to Google Drive still exists and won’t be superseded by this new feature, at least not for the time being. With many plans slowly coming to fruition, it looks like the Meta-owned company is looking to make the most of 2023. It’s nice to see that many of them actually address their core audience and are based on user feedback.
