Reddit has announced ‘Reddit Watch’, a new feature built into the platform’s mobile app. This feature gives users access to a vertically scrolling feed of algorithmically generated short videos, similar to TikTok and YouTube Shorts. This feature increases your discoverability on the Reddit platform. It provides new opportunities for content creators to surface content to new users based on their algorithmically determined interests.
The Reddit Watch feature not only aids discoverability, but also improves monetization on the platform. Because if Reddit decides to monetize this content for creators, it will give creators access to a new set of ads on the site. Additionally, Reddit Watch will soon be followed by Reddit Read, a vertical scrolling text-based content.
