Toradex extends its Verdin SoM portfolio with new entrant powered by Texas Instruments processors

Toradex, a leading provider of embedded system solutions, has announced the availability of the Verdin AM62 System-on-Module (SoM) based on the Texas Instruments™ (TI) AM62x processor.

Hol, Lucerne, March 7, 2023 (Issuewire.com) – Toradex, a leading provider of embedded system solutions, has announced the availability of the Verdin AM62 System-on-Module (SoM) based on the Texas Instruments™ (TI) AM62x processor. This new module focuses on ease of use, connectivity, and scalability for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Human Machine Interaction (HMI), and gateway applications.

Toradex’s focus on innovation, industry-leading support, and lowest cost over product lifetime has long set the company apart. Its products often exceed basic requirements and aim to be future-proof solutions for its customers. The addition of his AM62x processor to the well-established Toradex Verdin SoM family demonstrates the company’s continued focus on adding value to its customers and their projects.

Toradex began with extensive research and input from customers in markets such as industrial automation, healthcare, smart cities, transportation, test and measurement. While the Verdin form factor offers excellent compatibility, the low-end, pin-compatible extension of the Verdin family has shown that more applications will benefit from low power and low cost SoMs. . When evaluating processors for the new Verdin SoM products, Toradex didn’t just consider features and price. Selection criteria also included long-term product reliability, Linux support strategy, and company-wide manufacturing capabilities. All to provide customers with the lowest lifetime product cost.

Lifetime product cost includes not only the cost of the SoM alone, but also the time and resources required to bring the product to market and associated maintenance costs. With new regulations such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act, continuous maintenance of software is becoming more and more imperative, moving from a best practice to a requirement.

“We are pleased to add the Verdin AM62 System-on-Module to our successful product portfolio. We believe this will strengthen our goal of providing: Toradex continues to focus on building value for our customers while maintaining ease of use and speeding time to market. We look forward to continuing to strengthen and expand our full-stack embedded solutions offering,” said Samuel Imgles, CEO of Toradex.

Verdin AM62 is available in Torizon, an easy-to-use industrial Linux platform that modernizes the development and deployment of Linux-based products. The combination of AM62 and Torizon provides a reliable and secure full-stack embedded computing platform. This includes a maintained and tested Linux distribution, IDE integration, OTA remote updates, device monitoring, and remote access, increasing the lifetime value of the overall product.
