A toddler died after suffering severe burns to his face and hands after a mobile home caught fire in southwestern Florida on Monday.
NBC affiliate WBBH-TV reports that 2-year-old Jamie Cardwell died Friday at a Tampa hospital.
Her grandmother, Debbie Isom, told the station she remembered hearing Cardwell crying.
“She fanned her little hand, fanning it, trying to keep the flames away from her, but he, my husband, saved her,” Isom said.
Two other family members were also hospitalized.
