In October, Razer and Verizon announced a new Android-based gaming handheld called the Razer Edge. We didn’t know the exact shipping date at the time, but after that he’ll be in the first quarter of 2023, maybe he’ll be in January.
Luckily, Razer announced at CES 2023 that the Razer Edge is set to release on January 26th, so wait no more. An Android game handheld should provide.
There will be two versions at launch. The Razer Edge Wi-Fi variant will be sold exclusively at his Razer.com and RazerStore locations in the US for $399, while the Razer Edge 5G is available exclusively at Verizon.com and Verizon store locations.
I can’t wait for the release date, so let’s review the specs. The Razer Edge features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display featuring a 2400 x 1800 FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate for silky-smooth performance. Powering the Razer Edge is the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1, making the Razer Edge the first device to feature his Qualcomm’s gaming chipset with active cooling. This ensures the Razer Edge can handle long gaming sessions without breaking a sweat.
Paired with the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1, you get 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage with a microSD card slot for expansion, and a 5000mAh battery to keep you powered on the go.
Plus, the Razer Edge supports Wi-Fi 6E for Xbox Game Pass convenience and a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies.
Of course, the Razer Edge device is only half the equation. His one of the best mobile controllers, the Razer Kishi V2 Pro, also comes with the device. The Razer Kishi V2 Pro includes microswitch buttons, analog triggers, programmable macros, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Razer’s HyperSense haptics. You basically have everything you need to play the game.
This two-part solution is completely different from Logitech’s recently released G Cloud handheld. However, the Razer Edge has more horsepower and is aimed at local AAA and cloud gaming. G Cloud has a weak processor and is primarily built for game streaming services like Xbox Game Pass.
