Eleven children were awarded Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Praskar 2023 by President Drupadi Murum on Monday for their extraordinary achievements in their respective fields.
This prestigious award recognizes children aged 5 to 18 who excel in six categories: arts and culture, bravery, innovation, academics, community service and sports.
What do winners get?
This year, 6 men and 5 women were selected from 11 states and federal territories.
Each winner was presented with a medal, cash prize of Rs.1 million and a certificate.

Children selected as finalists out of 742 applicants
Nominations for the awards were accepted for the first time in the online mode of the Government of India Awards Portal.
The portal received a total of 742 applications, of which 684 were deemed worthy of consideration. The selection of the winners was made by a selection committee chaired by the Federal WCD Minister.
The Minister for Women and Child Development, Mr. Smriti Irani, and the Minister for Women and Child Development, Dr. Mundipala Mahendrabai, were also present.

➡️Adishia Suresh of Arts & Culture
Even after being diagnosed with a bone disorder (osteogenesis imperfecta) at birth, Adishia Suresh turned into a singer. To date, he has performed in over 500 of his singing events, including those for various television channels. He has won awards in the fields of art and culture.he is from kerala
➡️Aditya Pratap Singh Chauhan in Innovation
Aditya Pratap Singh Chauhan was honored for developing MICROPA, a unique technology to detect and filter microplastics from drinking water.
Detection is by Nile Red Dye and subsequently quantified using a computer algorithm. Project “MICROPA” is not only an efficient solution for microplastics, but also cost-effective. He is from Chhattisgarh.
➡️Art and Culture Shreya Bhattacharjee
Shreya Bhattacharjee, 12, is a tabla player who holds the record for the longest playing of the instrument in the Indian record book, according to a government statement. She is from Assam.
Besides various awards, Shreya has won the All North-East Tabla Solo Competition, All India Pt. Rupak Kulkarni Music Competition and All India Tabla Solo Competition. She won the 9th Performing Arts and Culture Olympiad Gold Medal.

Hanatani has been a SQAY martial arts fighter for the last seven years. At the age of 12, she represented India at the 3rd World SQAY Martial Arts Championships (October 2018) in Cheongju, South Korea, winning the gold medal. She is from Jammu and Kashmir.
SQAY is an ancient traditional martial art of Kashmir.

M Gauravi Reddy is another winner in this category who is an accomplished dancer and has performed classical dance on various platforms. He is from Telangana.
➡️Rishi Shiv Prasanna in Innovation
Another winner in the innovation category is Rishi Shiv Prasanna with a certified IQ level of 180 and the youngest certified Android application developer.
He is also the youngest YouTuber to run a channel, sharing insights on science-related topics in every episode. He is from Karnataka.
➡️Courage of Rohan Ramchandra Bahir
In the Courage category, Rohan Ramchandra Bahir was awarded for saving the life of a woman by jumping into a river. He is from Maharashtra.
➡️Anushka Jolie in Community Service
Anoushka Jolly hails from Delhi for her contributions in the field of social welfare.
➡️Shauryajit Ranjitkumar Khaire in Sport
In the sports category, Shauryajit Ranjitkumar Khaire, a 10-year-old national-level Malakhamb player, was honored.
The youngest medalist in any sport, the athlete won bronze in the standing pole open category at the 2022 National Games in Gujarat. Apart from this, he has won his three bronze medals in national level championships conducted by the Malakhamb Federation of India. He is from Gujarat.
