Tech Layoffs 2023: IBM Latest to Slash Workers With Google, Amazon, Microsoft


Mass layoffs are accelerating at tech companies and are being felt around the world.

International Business Machines Corp. was the latest company to announce cuts. About 3,900 jobs. The combined layoffs of Google’s parent company Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon and IBM cut about 44,000 positions in January. This is a continuation of an alarming trend from last year. The tech sector announced 97,171 job cuts in 2022, a 649% year-on-year increase, according to consulting firm Challenger Gray & Christmas.
