The combined layoffs of Google’s parent company Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon and IBM cut about 44,000 positions in January. This is a continuation of an alarming trend from last year. The tech sector announced 97,171 job cuts in 2022, a 649% year-on-year increase, according to consulting firm Challenger Gray & Christmas.
