It’s been a few months since the iPhone 14 launched. It’s time to turn our attention to the iPhone 15, even though it’s not expected to arrive until September 2023. Apple’s latest iPhone leaks have already begun. Everything you need to know about the new iPhone 15.

In this preview, we tell you everything we know about every aspect of the new iPhone 15. Including what models are coming, when they are coming, specs, etc. It will be updated frequently as needed until the September 2023 release date.

When will the iPhone 15 series be released?

It’s unclear when the iPhone 15 will be announced, but it’s very likely that it will be announced in the first half of September. Generally the first full week of September after Labor Day. In 2022, the iPhone 14 was announced two days after him instead of a week after Labor Day.

Pre-orders will begin next Friday and will be available the following Friday.

The short answer here is September 2023.

How much will the iPhone 15 cost?

In 2022, the iPhone 14 series saw price increases outside the US. However, the US kept the same price. If this continues with the iPhone 15 series, here are the model prices.

  • iPhone 15 – $799
  • iPhone 15 Plus – $899
  • iPhone 15 Pro – $999
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max – $1,099

What features does the iPhone 15 have?

The iPhone 15 is set to have tons of new features, but not because Apple wanted to add them. Expect a lot of changes from Apple in 2023 because of the EU. For example, the EU is forcing Apple to add USB-C to all iPhones sold in Europe by 2024. It also forces Apple to open up the iPhone a bit and allow third-party app stores. It will be both an iOS 17 feature and an iPhone 15 feature.

But here are the features currently rumored for the iPhone 15 series:

USB-C

When Apple confirmed to the WSJ a few months ago that the upcoming iPhones would have USB-C, many were thrilled. Including yours really. But it’s not all good news. Apple is forcing his USB-C, but it doesn’t include the higher data speeds that USB-C usually comes with. Instead, it will stick to USB 2.0 speeds, much like the current Lightning port.

However, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the “Pro” model will come with “at least” USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. This is another feature that distinguishes his regular iPhone model from the Pro model.

Unfortunately, how many people actually transfer data over their iPhone cables every day? Or at all? Not so many. So it may not be as big a deal as the tech media claims.

more dynamic islands

In 2022, the iPhone 14 Pro will have a new “notch”. It was a sort of hole-in-the-wall display: Face ID uses more sensors than Android’s facial recognition, so it’s cut out in the shape of a pill and is more secure. But instead of just putting it out there, Apple decided to embrace it and include the software. We call it Dynamic Island. It also incorporates Live Activities (announced with iOS 16 at WWDC) which is a really cool software feature.

Currently this was only available on the iPhone 14 Pro model. However, there are rumors that it will be available for all iPhone 15 models. Ross Youngwho has been pretty spot on with these rumors.

somehow a better camera

The iPhone 14’s camera is already really good. But Apple somehow he plans to improve them further in 2023. I suspect this is actually due to both hardware and software upgrades. Apple is expected to use Sony’s new image sensor. This could be reserved for the “Pro” model, like the new 48-megapixel camera was on his iPhone 14 model.

That’s not all, as Apple is rumored to add a periscope lens to the iPhone 15 in 2023. It is capable of 5x or 6x optical zoom. These foldable zoom cameras have been very popular with his high-end Android flagship for some time. So it’s good to see this coming to the iPhone.

No Touch ID yet

Despite the many leaks and rumors surrounding the iPhone 14, the iPhone 15 still won’t bring back Touch ID. It will no longer be available.

iPhone 15 Ultra

Rumors emerged from Bloomberg earlier this year that Apple might replace the iPhone 15 Pro Max with an Ultra model. After the release of the Apple Watch Ultra in 2022, this makes sense.

This new iPhone 15 Ultra is set to be more than just the bigger ‘Pro’ iPhones. This makes them heavier and more expensive. Be prepared for that.

Features of 3nm Apple Silicon

new chipset and modem

The new iPhone 15 model could be the first to use the new A-series chipset built on TSMC’s next-generation 3-nanometer node. This new 3nm chipset is expected to improve processing performance by around 10-15%. It also reduces power consumption by up to 30%. This helps extend the battery life, and while Apple typically comes out with a bigger battery every other year, the iPhone 15’s battery life is pretty impressive.

Apple plans to use Qualcomm for the iPhone 15 modem. I plan to use a Qualcomm X70 modem. This results in improved AI, faster processing speed, greater coverage, better signal, lower latency, and up to 60% more power efficiency. Apple has used Qualcomm modems off and on for the life of the iPhone. But since adding 5G with the iPhone 12, I’ve only used Qualcomm.

Should I wait to buy the iPhone 15 or just get the iPhone 14?

Depending on when you are reading this, it might make more sense to wait for the iPhone 15 instead of getting the iPhone 14 model. If you’re reading this in the summer of 2023, I suggest waiting. Even if you do get an iPhone 14, the price will drop when the iPhone 15 is announced.

However, if you need a new phone right away, you shouldn’t wait. Get an iPhone 14. It’s still a good phone and doesn’t disappoint.
