Samsung, Qualcomm and Google are working on some big projects
The company is building its own XR headset, which will likely use Android as the software and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip to power the device.
Samsung is a giant in the smartphone space and has recently tried to change its fortunes with laptops. Now the South Korean brand has confirmed plans to have a mixed reality (XR) headset in the near future, and for that Seeking expertise from Qualcomm and Android.
Samsung has launched its new Galaxy S23 phone and Galaxy Book3 Pro laptop, and between events, the company asked top executives from Qualcomm and Android to share the latest developments on the product. We don’t know the name of that product yet, but we can speculate that Samsung will power this headset with Android and use Qualcomm’s XR hardware to run the device.
Google is working on a new version of Android that will be compatible with such devices, and believes Samsung could be one of its partners to use the platform in its upcoming products. , has been dubbed the tech industry’s next big focus, and Apple is rumored to be working in this space, with reports expecting a product later this year.
Mixed reality combines virtual and augmented reality, but requires a headset for best results. That said, making it AR-enabled means it can also work on smartphones.

Many brands rushed to try and develop their products, but they weren’t successful. Samsung wants to avoid such possibilities and only announce products when they are ready, both in terms of hardware and software.
