Police officer shot, injured in East Dublin mobile park

EAST DUBLIN, Ga. (AP) — An East Dublin police officer was shot Monday while answering a call for someone to fire a gun inside Mobile Home Park, state investigators said. Officers wounded a man who was believed to have opened fire in the park, and both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said preliminary information showed that a police officer was shot shortly after exiting a police vehicle as he was responding to a call to fire fired at the Ponderosa Trailer Park. Officers returned fire and shot David Jermaine Fountain, 35, the agency said.

Officials said Fountain lived in a park in a mobile home, and investigators believe he was shooting at the mobile home before officers arrived.

Fountain was taken to a hospital in Macon for treatment and an arrest warrant was issued for assault and aggravated assault on security personnel.

The officer was treated and released. The officer’s identity was not immediately revealed.
