The Pixel Fold’s design may have just been revealed (somewhat) thanks to a mockup released in a recent video. YouTube content creator Dave2D has what is believed to be a plastic mockup of the upcoming Pixel Fold device. It’s just a piece of plastic, and that doesn’t sound all that exciting. But what’s interesting is that the mockup is said to have all the exact dimensions of the actual phone at launch.
Additionally, it has the basic details and shape of the final product. Camera cutout for the front camera sensor, ridges for the rear camera array, rounded edges, you name it. This isn’t the same as looking at marketing photos or the real leaked version, but it can give you a better idea of what you’re about to see.
Pixel Fold mockup matches previous leaks
This alleged mockup may not be showing off the phone itself. But the overall shape and details are in line with past leaks. The design shown before this mockup video all has the same details in the same places. This is probably a good indicator of what the overall design of the phone will be.
Even more important are the dimensions. These exact measurements, according to Dave2D. The phone is just 5.7mm thin when measured open. That means the size of the device when folded is about 11.4mm. But keep in mind that things can always change. The phone is also supposed to use a hinge design closer to that seen on the Oppo Find N. There is little (or no) gap between the sides of the inner display when folded.
Dave2D also said that the outer display is believed to be shorter and wider than that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. Not much else to notice. But at least it provides more evidence for the design shown in previous leaks.
