We are all wondering when Nothing will release Nothing OS 1.5 to Nothing Phone (1) AKA Android 13. The latest update coming to the phone doesn’t bring the much-needed upgrade, but it does bring a neat addition for Ear(1) users. According to 9To5Google, the latest update includes the Nothing X app.
Android 13 on Nothing Phone (1) has been a hot topic around the phone for some time now. It’s not just announcing a program that allows people in the US to try Android 13-powered phones for $299.
If you’re interested, you still have a few months to sign up for the program. Once you have the phone, you can test the software on the phone and report back to the company what you think could be improved.
One of the great things about this is that you can hold onto your phone when the test is complete. Since you’re paying $300, it should make sense. Paying that much just to have to return it would put a smack in your face.

Nothing X App Comes to Nothing OS
This update doesn’t bring many user-friendly changes to the software, but it’s an important one. This led to the January 2023 security update. According to the changelog, this update brings the usual bug fixes to the software. It also fixes an issue where the software stutters in certain scenarios.
The main addition to the software is the Nothing X app. If you’re using Nothing’s TWS earbuds, this is big news. Previously, I used the Ear (1) app to manage earbud connections, ANC, and more. Nothing has now replaced that app with the Nothing X app. It performs the same functions as the old app.
Not only can you control the mode of your device’s earphones, but you can also use the built-in EQ. This allows you to fine-tune the sound to your liking.
