See this new direction for Moto phones in the best way yet

We’ve already picked our favorite smartphones for 2022, and the hype is building fast for impending launches like the OnePlus 11, Samsung Galaxy S23, and other models. One of these early 2023 flagships on the radar comes from Lenovo-owned Motorola, and we got to check out some early images and rumored tech specs a few weeks ago. Now, a fresh set of photos gives you the best look of your Motorola ThinkPhone.

ANDROIDPOLICE VIDEO OF THE DAY

As the name suggests, Motorola’s ThinkPhone borrows its identity from parent company Lenovo’s iconic ThinkPad family of laptops. As we’ve heard about hardware before, snoopy tech Twitter claims that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC can power the ThinkPhone and run Android 13 out of the box.

Other interesting details include support for 68W fast charging, wireless charging dock accessories like the Pixel Stand, and a red button on the left edge of the phone that is very reminiscent of ThinkPad laptops’ TrackPoint pointing sticks. In fact, the stars here are the new photos, many of which are scenes we’ve checked out before, but with no watermarks and much higher resolution, these photos are much easier to appreciate.

On the software side, given Motorola’s affinity for Android, we’d expect a near-stock Android experience, even on a budget phone. Aside from the ThinkPhone’s faux carbon fiber back panel and red buttons, Motorola’s upcoming device could very well be an existing hot-seller modified to fit Lenovo’s ThinkPad branding.

We don’t yet know exactly when this model will officially debut, but it will likely arrive in early 2023.
