Christian Barnett knows he has work to do.
The running back at Faith Academy in Mobile, Alabama, is looking to play at the next level and made an unofficial visit to Auburn on Saturday. The Tigers offered him a walk-on his spot that Burnett will seriously consider in the coming weeks.
If he accepts the offer, he’s ready to reach it on the soccer field.
“Walk-ons are most likely preferred, and that’s probably good enough,” Burnett said. “It might work with my scholarship next year. They said it’s likely, but I’ve got to come here and do what I do. I’ve got to do it for the rest of my life.” I work hard.”
Barnett has PWO offers from Auburn and Alabama, and there is also strong interest from North Alabama. He loved what he saw when he visited Auburn on Saturday.
“I loved the energy,” Burnett said. “Everyone was so welcoming. The word family definitely stands out here.
Faith Academy’s standout player is listed as a running back, but also has experience as a defensive back.
“I prefer running back, but if the other side of the ball needs me, I’m always happy to go there,” Burnett said.
Another visit to Alabama may be scheduled later this month, but according to Burnett, it’s just a matter of figuring out what’s appropriate.
