Mobile asks employers to say Y.E.S to the job

City of Mobile is seeking local employers interested in hosting interns in 2023 through the Youth Empowered for Success Initiative.

YES was founded in 2016 to help young people connect with local jobs and develop opportunities. The YES initiative is primarily aimed at teenagers and college students who want to gain valuable experience in the local workforce.

The YES Internship Program and City of Mobile help local businesses find workers and connect with young professionals who can gain up to 160 hours of first-hand work experience. This program is open to students aged 16-18 and college students aged 18-24. Laine Federal handles all paperwork, payroll, city interviews, screening, and placement of potential interns based on availability, student interest, and requests from participating employers.

“Since its launch in 2016, the YES initiative has connected more than 4,000 young Mobilians to paid internships with city departments and local businesses,” said Mayor Sandy Stimpson.

“We have many talented young mobilians who are looking for opportunities to learn and grow.
