M2 Macs available from today, as first customers take delivery

The new M2 Mac is available today, and pre-order customers will receive a shiny new machine.

Apple last week announced a new Mac mini with a choice of M2 and M2 Pro chips, as well as M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro models…

New Mac mini models start at new lower prices.

The M2 Mac mini starts at a new low price of $599. M2 Pro Mac mini starting at $1299. Schools and students receive a $100 educational discount.

Mac mini continues to offer a wide range of I/O. The M2 Mac mini features two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, one HDMI port, Gigabit Ethernet (10 Gigabit option), and a headphone jack. The M2 Pro Mac mini features a 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU, has up to 32 GB of RAM, and adds two Thunderbolt 4 ports.

Both Mac mini configurations ship with support for Wi-Fi 6E, the fastest wireless networking standard. It also supports Bluetooth 5.3.

The MacBook Pro is now available with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, a significant upgrade to the M2 model launched last June.

The upgraded 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models feature the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. Other updates include Wi-Fi 6E for the first time, upgraded HDMI with support for 8K displays, and more.

The M2 Pro chip found in the new MacBook Pro features CPUs with up to 12 cores and GPUs with up to 19 cores. You can also add up to 32GB of unified memory. M2 Max goes further with up to 38 core GPU, double unified memory bandwidth and up to 96GB unified memory.

Storage configuration options for the new MacBook Pro models are 512GB on the low end and up to 8TB on the high end.

Early reviews called the M2 Mac mini a “Mac Studio Junior” with impressive performance and versatile pricing. Reviews of the M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro models called it a beast of a machine, but it was overkill for most people.

Apple has updated its homepage to inform you that all models are available to order now.

The refreshed MacBook Pro takes the top bill, followed by the Mac mini and the old-new HomePod.
