Locust Grove, Georgia – A weak tornado blew through the Locust Grove region on Thursday, knocking out power to hundreds of homes in the next few days, according to the National Weather Service.
The strength of Thursday’s storm is also evident in the damage or destruction of many mobile homes in the Indian Creek mobile home community. People there believe the tornado is coming through the Locust Grove community behind the Tanger Outlets and busy Interstate 75.
Fallen trees crushed several mobile homes.
Over the weekend, the NWS confirmed that a tornado with a strength between EF-0 and EF-1 passed through the region.
These were the same storms that created powerful tornadoes in and around Griffin just minutes before hitting Locust Grove. It’s also the same system that adds the EF-3 to the rest of Henry County to spin up.
