CES 2023 is just around the corner and Lenovo is already reaching out. The company showed off his latest Android tablet, the Tab M9. It won’t compete with the iPad or other high-end he tablets, but it looks solid for a budget tablet.
One of the main selling points of Lenovo’s latest tablet is its size. Lenovo included a 9-inch, 1,340 x 800 pixel display with a pixel density of 176ppi. The resolution is slightly lower, but at this price it’s not surprising. The company will offer the tablet in Arctic Gray and Frost Blue, both of which feature the company’s signature two-tone back panel.
Lenovo plans to offer the device in multiple configurations. It’s powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor, and the cheapest version offers 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage for $139.99. Other more expensive configurations available include 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM with 128 GB storage.
Although it ships with Android 12, Lenovo lists the tablet as “Android 13 Ready”. The company hasn’t revealed the exact number of Android updates the tablet will receive, but 13 in the pipeline means we can expect at least one.
One of the exciting software features is a reading mode that simulates the colors of the pages of a real book, creating a more e-reader-like experience. Another feature not always found on entry-level models is Face Unlock, but Lenovo includes it.
Cameras are nothing to get excited about. The Tab M9 includes a 2MP front camera and an 8MP rear camera. The tablet isn’t meant to be used as a main camera, but it may be sufficient for video chat.
As for battery life, the 5,100mAh cell should be enough to keep the tablet running for a day, but rigorous battery life testing needs to be done to get an accurate idea of how long it actually lasts. , you’ll have to wrestle with Lenovo’s claimed 13 hours of video playback. While watching these videos, you can use two speakers that support Dolby Atmos.
The Tab M9 is expected to ship in the second quarter of 2023. If you want to try the tablet at its affordable price of $139.99, you don’t have to wait too long.
