It was disappointing to find out I was fired via email. It was probably the right time to send it to everyone at the same time, but it was a very generic email and it didn’t feel right.

The first email arrived in the early hours of January 18th and said, “Layoffs are coming. I’m here to support you.” And he got an email an hour later confirming that they had eliminated my position.

I’ve been working as a Technical Recruiter at Amazon Web Services for the past year and I love it. Being fired is devastating. When you find a team that is very supportive, it’s really hard not to take it personally when this kind of thing happens.

After receiving the first email informing me that I had been fired, I was contacted by higher ups in the organization and then by HR. It felt very robotic.

This whole process was extremely frustrating due to the lack of transparency provided. I know Amazon is a giant company, and a more personalized approach to logistics would have been a nightmare, but on the other hand, we are human. This is our livelihood.

I had expected more job cuts since CEO Andrew Jassy issued a statement two weeks ago that more job cuts would take place on the 18th.

I was scared. We were all nervous for two weeks, but I was in denial.

I’m a recruiter and Amazon has been on a hiring freeze since November, but I’ve been busy with projects I’ve been working on.

Most of the time I worked at Amazon, it didn’t feel like a huge company. I truly believe I was on one of the healthy teams.

Just a guess, but if it hadn’t been leaked first, I suspect upper management would have told us layoffs were coming. rice field.
