Google Wallet adds whimsical Pay animations for the holidays

If you’ve used Google Wallet on Android recently, you may have noticed a bit of holiday whimsy on the payment screen.

Normally, when you tap your Android phone to the NFC reader, you’ll see the card being used and a loading animation right above it. The circular blue progress indicator changes to a checkmark with a circle and shrinks to make way for the Google Pay logo.

While on vacation, the blue check mark can change to any number of characters. One of his more elaborate animations is a cat in some holiday sweaters tumbling off the screen to reveal her G Pay icon. It features transitions that are so smooth that I doubt it will happen. The 3 second sequence is almost triple the length, but you can terminate or lock the device at any time.

Other designs we’ve seen include a marshmallow drinking hot chocolate in a mug. At the same time, please ring the chime below.

This isn’t the first time Google has used this screen to add a whimsical touch. In 2017, when the service was still branded as Android Pay, the green figurines morphed. Justice League superhero. In fact, collecting all five designs earned a special action figure prize.
