Samsung’s December security update is now available for the Galaxy S20 FE. Launched LTE model in Europe. A 5G version should join us in the next few days while Samsung expands the release to other regions.
Galaxy S20 FE LTE has received December security patches in many European countries. SamMobile has confirmed release in France, Luxembourg, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, and many other markets in the region. This update comes with firmware version G780FXXSAEVL1. It does not bring any new features or changes to the phone. Samsung only seeds the latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release) of him.
However, the new SMR contains many vulnerability fixes. Samsung’s latest monthly security bulletin lists 80 patches. At least five of them are for critical vulnerabilities. These flaws allowed remote code execution without requiring additional privileges. This means that affected phones can easily be hijacked by remote attackers without the user’s knowledge.
This December SMR will also patch dozens of other high-severity vulnerabilities in Galaxy devices. If you have a Galaxy S20 FE LTE, fixes for all of these vulnerabilities should be readily available. Galaxy S20 FE 5G users are also looking forward to receiving this update soon.
Galaxy S22 series gets widespread December update
Along with adding the Galaxy S20 FE to its December security update party, Samsung is rolling out a new SMR across the Galaxy S22 series. Earlier this week, the rollout of his Snapdragon-equipped model began in select Asian countries. His Exynos variant in Europe also got the latest security patch today. The firmware version for the new release is S90*BXXU2BVL1. The official changelog lists the latest vulnerability fixes along with some feature stability improvements. However, there are no new features here.
The December SMR should arrive soon for Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S20 FE smartphones in the US. Note that the latter 5G version has only arrived in the US, and its rollout hasn’t even begun in international markets. Lunar SMR could be part of a larger Android release for the Galaxy S20 FE in those markets. We will let you know as soon as the rollout begins. As mentioned above, you can always manually check for updates from your phone’s Settings app.
