Explosion and fire at Riverdale mobile home park

Ogden, Utah — Kelly Jacobson has lived in Leslie’s Mobile Home Park for 26 years. He was fast asleep in his bed early Sunday morning when he heard an explosion.

“Curiosity got the better of me and I went to look out the front door and this place was completely engulfed,” Jacobson said.

Riverdale fire chief Jared Shorey said police were notified of a possible explosion at a trailer park in Riverdale around 3:55 a.m. Sunday morning.

“On the way, we were informed that a trailer was involved and people reported there were loud noises and explosions. We had a trailer that was well involved just before the fire on arrival.”

Many may say they’ve never seen anything like this before, but Jacobson says he has. He recalls a trailer next door that exploded and caught fire years ago.

“As long as I’ve been here, I’ve seen some pretty questionable things going on,” Jacobson said. meta lab. “

Chief Shorey has confirmed that the fire was not caused by the meth lab, but says the fire is suspicious.

Jacobson believes park owners can do more to prevent fires and crime in abandoned sections of parks.

“It’s the park’s responsibility to clean up the abandoned sites here, and they’re not following their own rules. There are a lot of people still living here who are disappointed,” said Jacob. Sung said.

Fox 13 News has reached out to Mobile Park for comment, but has yet to hear back.

Shory said he will send the evidence gathered from the trailer to the Utah Fire Department for further investigation.
