Regarding the changes Apple announced on Friday, the company told developers that “apps and in-app purchases (excluding auto-renewing subscriptions) on the App Store are now available in Colombia, Egypt, Hungary, Nigeria, Norway, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. ” This increase will start on February 13th.
Fluctuations in foreign exchange rates are one of the reasons why Apple frequently changes prices in the App Store
In Ireland, Luxembourg, Singapore, and Zimbabwe, apps and in-app prices will remain unchanged, but developer earnings will fluctuate due to the following tax changes:
- Ireland: Reduced VAT rate on electronic newspapers and periodicals from 9% to 0%
- Luxembourg: VAT rate reduced from 17% to 16%
- Singapore: Goods and Services Tax Rate Increased from 7% to 8%
- Zimbabwe: Increased VAT rate from 14.5% to 15%
At the end of this month, Apple said it will increase revenue for local developers in Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
Apple informs developers that they can change app prices and in-app purchases (including auto-renewable subscriptions) at any time using App Store Connect. The company also reminds developers who sell subscriptions that they can also keep the price the same for existing subscribers.
