Bills’ Stefon Diggs responds to Eli Apple’s trolling: ‘Clout chasing’


Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs and Cincinnati Bengals top cornerback Eli Apple are up for quite the Twitter beef.

Apple never backed down from the social media battle, but Diggs, who is usually reserved on social media platforms, responded with a hand heart emoji after the Bengals’ corner said “Cancun on three.” “It’s easier to criticize your reaction than the result,” Diggs said.

Diggs started with a corn emoji, suggesting that he thinks Apple is corny, and adding the phrase “seeking influence.”

“Safe trip to Cabo Femme,” Apple responded after the Bengals won 27-10 in Buffalo on Sunday and knocked out the Bills in the offseason.

Since winning, Apple has been ravaging Diggs and Bills. Apple tweeted a video of Diggs showing his displeasure with quarterback Josh Allen in the final moments of the Bills’ loss.

“Someone gets them in couples therapy @JoshAllenQB and @stefondiggs. I pay God,” Apple wrote.

Apple also had to clarify Cancun’s tweet, as he appeared to be making fun of Damer Hamlin’s hand-hearted gesture since he suffered a cardiac arrest in a game against the Bengals in Week 17. Hamlin also I’m wearing number 3.

“All love goes out to @HamlinIsland in prayers and concern as he continues to recover from that tragic incident.” It’s a really dangerous risk to our bodies, minds and spirits and nothing but love for my football brothers.”

Buffalo’s Bill Shaq Lawson also criticized Apple for the Cancun tweet, suggesting Apple downplayed the Hamlin case.

“You played a good game @EliApple but you disrespect my boy @HamlinIsland’s situation. It means you beat frfr. Keep it on the field.”

“It’s a shame we couldn’t keep the same energy on the field,” Apple said. “The result could have been different. [shrug emoji] Enjoy Mexican food with your friends. ”

Apple has tussled with NFL opponents, including Tyreek Hill, on Twitter in the past, while Hill played with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Bengals defeated the Chiefs at Arrowhead in the AFC Championship last season, and Apple’s play in stopping Hill from reaching the end zone before halftime was a key play in helping them win the comeback overtime. After that game, Apple trolled Hill and others after the game leading up to the Super Bowl, where the Bengals lost to the Los Angeles Rams.

Apple continues to interact with the Bills on social media as they prepare to meet the Chiefs again in Kansas City and seize their chance to make their second straight Super Bowl in Cincinnati.
