The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras recently held a conference to announce BharOS, a new mobile operating system with a focus on privacy and security. The OS is developed by JandK Operations Private Limited (JandKops), a Section 8 (non-profit) company founded by IIT Madras. BharOS is basically a very clean fork of his AOSP that offers various security and privacy features.
For example, there are no default apps preloaded with the OS. This allows users to carefully select only the apps they need and trust. BharOS also provides access to a private app store service called PASS. Apparently, it contains a handpicked selection of apps that have been verified as compliant with the privacy and security needs of businesses.
That’s exactly the target user of the OS. Offered to companies and organizations with specific security requirements and sensitive information. Apparently, BharOS also gets its own native over-the-air updates. However, it’s not clear which version of Android core it’s currently based on.
Professor V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, said of the software project:
BharOS Services is a mobile operating system built on a foundation of trust, giving users more freedom, control and flexibility to choose and use only the apps that meet their needs. focus on doing. This revolutionary system promises to revolutionize the way users think about security and privacy on mobile devices.
