Autonomous Support Cargo Robots : evoBOT

Rather than being a full replacement for mortal labor, evoBOT is an autonomous robot focused on assisting humans with a variety of tasks at work and at home. This seemingly simple robot moves on two wheels and uses a series of arms to grab items and zip between locations. The robot is kept relatively light by using the inverted double pendulum principle and does not require the use of external counterweights.

The “evoBOT” is currently in the prototype stage and was created by a team from the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics. The robot could help significantly enhance various industries such as shipping and healthcare, and it also shows clear benefits as a potential solution for the home.
