gift that keeps on giving
When Asus announced the Zenfone 8, it was a low-key looking phone powered by its flagship processor beast, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The price of the sticker was surprisingly not too high either, making it a very affordable purchase. Since his May 2021 launch running Android 11-based ZenUI 8, the smartphone has been upgraded to his Android 12. The latest good news for Zenfone 8 users is that the Android 13 OTA update will also be released.
When Asus announced the Zenfone 8’s Android 12 update at the end of December 2021, it was the phone’s first major Android update. Now the company is rolling out the Android 13 update for his Zenfone 8 users. An OTA update rollout should already be underway, but if you’re familiar with flashing an updated system image, Asus’s website lists the corresponding files.
The Android 13 update includes several new additions such as theme icon support, revamped system apps, January security patch, Android 13 style quick settings, notification tray, volume panel and more. The system clipboard now also has auto-delete and editor functions. Asus has tweaked contact and phone number blocking so you won’t receive calls and SMS from blocked entities.
Zenfone 8 and 8Z users can manually install the Android 13 update. This time the file is the same for his SKUs worldwide, EU, Russia and India. A similar update image is also available for the Zenfone 8 Flip. Asus offers his Android 12 downgrade OTA images for Zenfone 8/8Z and Zenfone 8 Flip in case you run into any issues while installing the update. Back up all important data before starting the process.
