One of the big surprises of the 2022 holiday season is the lack of new Macs from Apple. Until last November, we expected the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros to hit stores with a more powerful version of the M2 chip. That never happened, and Apple has reportedly postponed the launch to 2023. Insiders now claim that Apple will unveil at least three Macs in his March. This includes last year’s anticipated MacBook Pro upgrade
The third Mac could be a Mac mini refresh with the M2 chip. However, the leaker Leaked AppleProalso mentioned in the report the 15-inch MacBook Air and the M2-equipped Mac Pro.
As rumors began to shift, we speculated last year that the delayed release of the MacBook Pro may have something to do with Apple’s other hardware plans. Specifically, I wondered if Apple wanted to coincide with the launch of his MacBook Pro so he could announce a new mixed reality headset at the same event. After all, these devices all feature variants of the M2 chip.
Then, in late December, we learned that the real reason Apple was delaying the MacBook Pro update had to do with the actual chip. TSMC didn’t start mass production until late last month, so the M2 Max and M2 Pro wouldn’t have arrived in time.
But Leaked ApplePro said in a report of Solutions The real reason Apple didn’t launch a new MacBook Pro model in late 2022 is because the company didn’t plan for it.
According to the report, it all has to do with marketing. Apple wants to launch the new MacBook Pro alongside other Macs that aren’t ready yet. This ensures a proper launch event, not just a press release.
The leaker mentions three Macs that weren’t ready in November. The new Mac mini, the 15-inch MacBook Air, and the Mac Pro are all-new. All of these devices have appeared in previous reports, so this is not surprising. When Leaked ApplePro No details are provided about the two most exciting Macs on the list. That’s the 15-inch Air and the redesigned Mac Pro.
Aside from the chip upgrade to the M2, you shouldn’t see any changes to the Mac mini.
If this information is accurate, Apple could host a Mac-focused press event in March. At the show, his 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros were to be unveiled, along with at least one other new Mac. It will be interesting to see if Apple can finish the 15-inch Air and new Mac Pro in time for his March announcement.
Separately, we mention the Mixed Reality headset again. If the reports are accurate, it would be a device as powerful as the M2 MacBook Air and Pro. A Mac-centric event could be the perfect place to wow your audience with “just one more” teaser for AR/VR headsets.
Again, other leakers have said the headset is behind schedule and the device announcement may be later than expected. You may want to host your own event. Alternatively, you can wait until WWDC 2023 to allow developers to participate. After all, Apple needs to make sure developers have a lot of great apps ready by the time mixed reality headsets hit stores.
