Uniting for Version 3 of the Browser Benchmark
Google Chrome is the best Android phone default browser and also a popular desktop web browser. In addition to Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and his web browser Safari on Apple products, he competes with many open source alternatives. Each browser has its strengths and weaknesses, but developers use metrics such as browser benchmarks to determine areas where a particular product excels. Speedometer is one such benchmarking tool, set up by his WebKit team at Apple in 2014, but his only major upgrade was back in 2018. Naturally, the side developing the next big iteration of the benchmarking service named Speedometer 3.
It is not so common to come across a partnership between three competing companies. In a tweet late last week, the WebKit team said Said This collaboration will improve the benchmarks themselves and improve browser performance for Apple users.
affiliated twitter account Mozilla development team And Google Chrome has also confirmed the development, with the latter saying that collaboration will work “in a joint governance model” with the goal of sharing each other’s work, leading to better performance for all.
It’s worth noting that in March of this year, Google Chrome surpassed Safari as the fastest browser on Speedometer.
Speedometer’s GitHub repository doesn’t say much about the new 3.0 version, other than that it is under active and unstable development. However, developers are encouraged to keep checking the repository for updates for future releases.
If you’re interested in a stable version of Speedometer, try Speedometer 2.1, released in August of this year.
