Apple has apparently canceled the 2024 iPhone SE 4, according to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on Friday.
According to Kuo, he said: in 2024)”
Kuo also said that Apple appears to have told the supply chain that the iPhone SE 4 was “cancelled, not postponed.” Reason? Kuo said he had concerns that Apple’s in-house baseband chips wouldn’t work as well as Qualcomm’s. This in-house chip was first expected to debut in his iPhone SE 4 in 2024 before deciding whether his flagship iPhone 16 would also include the chip.
With this in mind, Kuo said that this apparent cancellation of the iPhone SE 4 “means that Qualcomm has significantly increased the chances of remaining the exclusive baseband chip supplier for 2H24’s new iPhone 16 series. This is better than the market consensus that Qualcomm will start dropping iPhone orders in 2024.”
Kuo concludes that Qualcomm will continue to dominate the high-end smartphone radio frequency market in 2023 and 2024, yielding higher profits than its competitors.
Kuo already said last month that the iPhone SE 4 is likely to be delayed or canceled based on the latest research.
On Thursday night, Kuo predicted that Apple’s expected AR/VR headsets would be announced at a spring event or WWDC, rather than the first quarter of 2023.
Last March, Kuo made his debut on Twitter, his first post predicting the features of Apple’s iPhone SE 3, four days before the latter’s debut, and it turned out to be correct.
