WhatsApp will stop working on some older iPhone models and Android smartphones (around 49 models) after December 31, 2022.

This affects iPhone users with iOS 11, Android OS 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and earlier. Essentially, the device needs to upgrade its operating system to a newer available variant or switch to a new compatible smartphone or OS..
According to WhatsApp, the list of obsolete smartphones includes the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c. iPhone 5s and later models can be updated to newer versions of iOS that are still supported by Messenger, so it’s safe to say they’re no longer supported at this point.
Incompatible LG phones include LG Lucid 2, LG Optimus 4X HD, LG Optimus F3, LG Optimus F3Q, LG Optimus F5, LG Optimus F6, LG Optimus F7, LG Optimus L2 II, LG Optimus L3 II, LG Includes Optimus L3. II Dual, LG Optimus L4 II, LG Optimus L4 II Dual, LG Optimus L5, LG Optimus L5 Dual, LG Optimus L5 II, LG Optimus L7, LG Optimus L7 II, LG Optimus L7 II Dual, LG Optimus Nitro HD.

Samsung smartphones that are no longer compatible include Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, Samsung Galaxy Core, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, Samsung Galaxy Trend II, Samsung Galaxy Trend Lite, and Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2.
Some Sony Xperia models are also listed, such as Xperia Arc S, Xperia Miro, and Xperia Neo L.
