Announcing Android CES 2023
- New Android Auto for everyone: In late 2022, Google rolled out a new Android Auto layout (first unveiled at I/O 2022). However, this public beta was only available to a limited number of users. Starting today, this new layout will exit the beta phase and will be available to all users.
- Spotify Connect: Android 13 makes it easy to choose your music output from Bluetooth speakers, Chromecast built-in speakers, or the phone itself. Google announced today that it’s working with Spotify to bring similar simplicity when switching from an Android media player to a Spotify Connect device.
- Tap to move: If you’re listening to music in your earphones on the subway, you may want to keep it playing on your speakers when you get home. A lot of tapping is required to do this. However, Google is working on ways to make this easier through intelligent notifications. These alerts pop up when you move in general proximity to the various listening devices you own. First, this works with YouTube Music and Spotify.
- Digital car key: Digital car keys can already be shared between Pixel phones and iPhones. The feature will come to both Samsung and Xiaomi phones this year.
